Sixth formers at Tewkesbury School have a real reason to smile.
A level exam results announced this week show a 91 per cent pass rate with a high level of A and B grades. This means that most of the pupils will be able to go on to their first choice of college or university in September.
Head teacher Paul Cotter said: "I am absolutely delighted.
"The pass rate is slightly down on last year, when we had 94 per cent, but it is still comfortably above the national average and there are more A and B grades this year. We could go for a higher percentage - we could push it up to 99 per cent, but that would mean only allowing the youngsters we were sure of take the exams. At Tewkesbury School we belive that everyone deserves a chance."
