SWIMATHON HELPS DISABLED YOUNGSTERS.
Top fundraisers and swimmers get their rewards this week
The fruits of the annual Tewkesbury Swimathon held at Cascades on February 5, will be distributed on Tuesday evening (Aug 8).
The Swimathon, involving teams of swimmers completing as many lengths of the pool as possible in an hour, raised £2,289 for the James Hopkins Trust. The charity, which provides respite care for severely handicapped children, will receive the cheque at a special presentation evening at the Borough Council Offices.
Trophies, which will be presented on the same evening, include the Admag Trophy for the team raising the most sponsorship won by The Kestrels, a team of family and friends from Northway who raised a total of £409.50.
With 37 lengths, Bayliss & Co take the Liz Neale and Len Reid trophy for the highest number of lengths per swimmer.
A team from Chosen Hill School won the Tewkesbury Guild Trophy for the greatest overall distance of 204 lengths.
