MEDALLION FOR QUEEN MUM Town Council mark centenary with a millennium gift.
HRH The Queen Mother will join Tewkesbury primary school children as the proud owner of a millennium medallion.
The medallion, with the town crest on one side and a copy of the Abbey statue “Touching Souls” on the reverse, was designed by the Council and a copy presented to every primary school aged child in the town.
Now the Council has sent one to the Queen Mother, together with a loyal greeting, on the occasion of her 100th birthday.
Mrs Nickie Phillipson Stow, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce, created a giant card and invited members of the public to sign it. When it was posted earlier this week, it comprised 10 pages containing over 300 signatures from townsfolk.
