KITE FESTIVAL FLYING HIGH
Visitors from all over the world flock to show
An estimated 4,000 people visited the Tewkesbury Kite Festival last weekend, from as far away as Poland, Hungary and Malaya.
Organiser Neville Wing said: "It was absolutely fantastic, attendances were well up on last year. Everyone enjoyed it so much we have had requests to do it for a whole week next year."
He added that, with just a small group of people organising it, he did not think that would be possible. However, he went on to say that the local group, The Golden Valley Kite Fliers, is building up its own following and has gained at least six new members over the weekend.
The festival included a wide range of kite flying skills, but for Neville the highlight was seeing a team of nine flying their kites in unison.
