Tewkesbury pulls out all the stops!
Britain in Bloom judges in town

Boats full of blooms, children’s theatre, and musical entertainment are just some of the highlights which organisers hope will boost the town's chances in this year’s Britain in Bloom competition.

The judges will be in Tewkesbury on Tuesday July 25 from 3pm, and they will base their decision on a 90 minute tour of the town.

Brian Reeve, who is co-ordinating arrangements for the day, said "It has to be timed to the nearest minute to allow them to see everything we want them to see. We have got 40 per cent more blooms this year, and I am feeling quietly confident."

Among the sights he is determined they will take in are boats filled with blooms moored at the Abbey Mill and Stanchard's pit. He is also hoping that the judges will be able to see local children performing a play they have developed through a series of workshops with the Roses Theatre.

Roy Smith has also promised to be out and about in full Edwardian costume, complete with accordion.

Last year, the town came third out of eight in the small towns category.
