When Nickie Phillipson-Stow, who runs the Orange Pig children's clothes shop, discovered that the town was not marking the Queen Mother's birthday in any way, she decided to do something about it. She set to work and created a giant card, with a Monet print on the front and plenty of space inside.
Now she is inviting local people into her shop to sign the card before she sends it off to Clarence House on August 2. She said: "I was absolutely amazed when I heard that the town was not doing anything to mark the occasion and decided that someone should."
Town Clerk, Major Mike Wilson said that the Town Council will be sending a message of congratulations, but had not made any plans for the town as a whole to join in.
