Bridge Work Planned £500,000 needed to repair local bridge
Gloucestershire County Council is spending £500,000 strengthening a Tewkesbury bridge that has been closed for five years.
The Quay Street Bridge over the Mill Avon was closed when a survey revealed that it was not strong enough to take today’s traffic. Traffic has been diverted onto the former railway bridge, which runs alongside it.
The county council has come up with a plan to install steel supports under the cast iron structure. Work is due to start in March or April next year, and should take about six months to complete.
