Plans to try and keep The Hangings for private use are moving ahead.
The small grassed area between Allied Mills and the lock gate has been fenced off by Allied Mills. They say is the only way to keep it tidy for their workers to sit outside at break times.
A small group, headed by Terry Golding has been set up to try and preserve it as a public open space. They have found the required six people to swear that they have used the area regularly over the past twenty years without hinderence, and have registered the claim with the county council.
The council has now accepted the claim and is posting public notices asking for objections to the registration.
If none have been received by August 7th, the registration of the land will go ahead. It will still belong to Allied Mills, but they will be committing an offence if they block it in any way.
