Tewkesbury Aid worker plans next journey
School equipment needed for Kosovan village.
Roger Laycock, who delivered an ambulance to Gilane Hospital in Kosova in May, is off again. This time he is asking local people to rally round and help him fill his Landrover and trailer with school equipment.
"They are so short of everything, the kids have to go to school in shifts, and they are so keen to learn it breaks your heart" he said.
Although he would love to take a load of computers, he is more than happy to carry pens, pencils, geometry sets, arts, and sports equipment, all of which is desperately needed.
"Even a packet of felt pens would mean the world to a child who has nothing,'' he said.
He will leave for Kosova on July 3rd. He used money donated by Tewkesbury School from their charity fortnight to cover the costs of delivering the ambulance. The rest of the money will pay for the fuel, border taxes and insurance for this trip.
Cash donations will be used to fund further trips to wherever aid is needed. Mr Laycock is the founder of Tewkesbury Independent Aid. He can be contacted on 01684-292575.
