He distributed the money at the annual town meeting at the Watson Hall on May 8th.
He gave £1000 each to the Town Museum and the youth section of the town band, £800 to the Fair Society, £725 to the Hospital League of Friends and £500 each to the Macmillan Nurses Fund,Crohn's in Childhood Research Appeal and the Tewkesbury Wheelchair Bus Association.
At the same meeting Coun Peter Randell was installed as mayor for the coming year, and Brian Devereaux was presented with the Town Community Award. The award was in recognition of his long service as a town and borough councillor. He served 27 years in all, and is the only person to have been town mayor three times.
Coun Randell announced that his charity for the year will be to provide computer equipment for use by children in the town's primary schools.
