Radio links success Shopkeepers help find missing child
There are now 22 businesses in the town linked through the scheme, and several others have asked for details on how to join.
It is a joint venture between the town council, the police, the chamber of commerce and traders.
Although set up as crime prevention device the scheme proved its worth in other ways recently when it was used to find a four year old boy who went missing in the town centre. Police circulated his description to shop keepers, and thanks to the radio link he was found safe and sound are returned to his parents.
Sgt Peter Maher of Tewkesbury police said: "It was a real community effort."
