Market area needs re-vamp Borough council says decked parking could be the answer.
The plan says that piecemeal development in the 60s and 70s had a destructive effect on the area leaving it with large areas of tarmac and poorly designed modern buildings.
Now the council is to prepare a development brief for the whole area. This could include decked parking on the former Warner’s Garage site, which would free up other parts of the area for other uses. The plan favours a mix of leisure, residential and employment use.
