Tewkesbury’s figures compare very well with Gloucester 's 3.8 per cent and Cheltenham's 2.4. percent. The low figure also helps keep the county total down to 2.8 per cent.
A spokesman for the Job Centre said: "This has always been a buoyant employment area. Even in the early 90s when there were 3million people unemployed we never went above 5.8 per cent. Other areas had levels of 13 or 15 per cent unemployment."
