Medieval Festival Meeting.
Street Market planned...

Anyone interested in finding our more about how the town can be involved in July’s medieval festival is invited to a meeting.

It takes place in the Berkeley Suite at the Royal Hop Pole Hotel on Thursday March 2nd at 8pm.

Many people feel the town has lost out since the festival moved to a bigger site at the Gupshill Manor two years ago.

This year the organisers, The Companions of the Black Bear are planning a street market in Church Street on the Saturday evening.

They would like the town as a whole to take on something of medieval atmosphere for the weekend, and feel that traders in particular would benefit.
The idea of the meeting is to exchange views on how this can be done.

Spokesman Amanda Thomas said: "The fair attracts thousands of people from all over the world. We feel that with a concerted effort the town could benefit a great deal more from all these extra visitors."

The Medieval Festival takes place on July 8th and 9th.
