YOUNG FARMERS WIN MAYOR'S AWARD
Tewkesbury Young Farmers have just become the first group to win the Borough Mayor's Award for Meritorious Service.

Tewkesbury Young Farmers have just become the first group to win the Borough Mayor's Award for Meritorious Service.

They were presented with a certificate and cheque at the annual Mayor Making Ceremony at Smith's Industries in Bishop's Cleave on Tuesday night.
Outgoing Mayor, Coun Mark Calway selected them for the award in recognition of their fund raising for local charities - particularly Winston's Wish.

The Gloucester based charity provides help for bereaved and grieving children.

The Foot and Mouth Crisis has meant the group have not been able to get together recently, but are planning to use some of their award money for a celebratory party as soon as they can.

Kathy Beale also received an award for her tireless work for others. Despite her failing health 60-year-old Kathy runs errands for her neighbours, collects items for sale for numerous charities, works hard for Mencap and has knitted numerous blankets for various causes.
She has not yet decided what to do with her money.
