CHORAL SYMPHONY PREMIERED IN TEWKESBURY Choral Society commission Millennium work
A Choral Symphony specially commissioned by Tewkesbury Choral Society to mark the new Millenium will have its world premier in the Abbey.
"The First Two Thousand Years", by Dr Derek Bourgeois, will be sung by the Society on December 9. The work has been written for choir and tenor solo, and the soloist on this occasion will be Mark Wilde.
The piece includes prose and poetry throughout the ages including Anglo Saxon riddles, bible stories and 20th century poetry, all set to music by Dr Bourgeois.
Rehearsals for the new work have just started, but new choir members are always welcome - enthusiasm is more important than experience. Anyone interested in finding out more should contact the Honorary Secretary on 01452 780460.
