Tewkesbury Historical Society The next meeting at Tewkesbury Methodist Church is at 7.45 p.m. on Thursday 18 February 2010. We welcome Dave Harvey, himself a former miner, to present to us "Songs and Poems of a Forest of Dean Freeminer". We look forward to your joining us there. Bulletin 18 has been published! It features articles on the importance of Tewkesbury in English Folk Songs, the last day of Tewkesbury's Railway in 1961 and life on the railway around about World War II; the history of our Cattle Markets, a History of Tewkesbury Baptist Church and the Freeman family's History in Photographs continues. Three new local history books are also reviewed. Members can obtain copies at meetings and also Alison's Bookshop stocks them. Please look at our website for other important Society news. The weekly computer tuition, assisted by Geoff Everitt, continues on Thursday afternoons from 2.30-4.30 sponsored by Tewkesbury School.
