Tewkesbury Historical Society Our 19th Season starts on 18 September with a talk from our Chairman, Cliff Burd, on the Alleyways of Tewkesbury - all are very welcome! We meet in the Methodist Church (not school hall) at 7.45 p.m. All are welcome and there will be eco-friendly refreshments!. For more details, please visit www.ths.freeuk.com. Bulletin 17 has been published and that you can buy it either at the Society or from good local bookshops. The delightful Sam Eedle cover features an impish young man, photographed by Halsey Freeman, and the really last part of his biography appears inside. It has other articles on the Flood of 1959 and the Freeze of 1963, the allegedly corrupt official W.H. Gray, Thomas Holland the stocking maker who lost both his hands, the life of George Dyson, Headmaster of Trinity Schools, the Tewkesbury Christadelphians and two articles by archaeologists: Richard Morris writes about the Easthope Tomb while Richard Sermon ponders on the origins of the name Tewkesbury.
